google

I did a little research today on myself, Matt Stars. I googled and yahoo'd me. But I wasn't even on the top 3 pages. matt stars, "matt stars" matthew stars "matthew stars" matthewstars@yahoo.com
Maybe that'll be my goal this next week, to open accounts and link them here.
On the other hand, my other half, Sandy's myspace is listed 1st or 2nd under sansie05. Go figure. I wish I was better at adding random people to my myspace and facebook accounts.

The latest

So I completed what I wanted with the leaf pile..

First, I stitched them all together to form a jacket,

Then I sketched a jacket and outfit I wanted to make out of fabric "leaves"

The jacket is longer in back, and is sleeveless. It would go over a brown wispy gown that would make it seem like it was a tree with fall leaves, with trendills in her hair.

Then I cut and stitched leaf patterns together.

Now I will add the dress part.

Then I plan to work it into a t-shirt design that is much simpler and faster to make.
Then I plan to make some t-shirts.

Wine

First, Christmas is my favorite time at the Liquor Store. So many goodies to get, so many friendly faces.

My wine's all bottled up. 20 nice shiny 750mls, all in a row.
But I don't think I want to really drink much of it.
It's very very very dry. I didn't add any sugar to begin with. So, I'll have to add some later. All and all, it was about 2 1/2 months.
Next time, it'll be better.

What colour

What colour are my eyes?
I think I would like to paint everything from this palette.

Guess where I am

No, not right behind you.

A few things. This week hasn't turned out like I thought. I had promised to do one public intervention daily. Well, not so much. I made some chalk murals, nothing I took pictures of.
I promise to keep trying.
What I really wanted to bring up was
I'm thinking of deleting my blogs on here, sticking to the blogs on "middlenameadventure", and cleaning this one up to be strictly portfolio, for viewing by the public interest.
But, I'll think about it.
Yes, my computer is still broken, I'm timid about asking when I'll be done being fixed, seeing as it's a friend of the family fixing it.
So, I'm in a computer lab at school, sitting next to a crazy chick who's trying to sign up for classes a week late, and talking loudly to herself. Gotta go, my music isn't loud enough to block it out. (:

Stuffs not coming together

Here's what I have and what I originally thought I'd do with it all:

Hundreds of oak leaves
Make a jacket

Hundreds of various colored maple leaves
Make a jacket
Then remake it in various fabric colors, using a maple pattern cut out

Gum, stuck to a board
Make gum-graffiti, then hang it up somewhere permanent

Miniature people made of clay
Make them after real people I know and place them in public

Several clay masks, painted and decorated
Mail them to people and organize a secret masqurade

Several tiny doll houses from life size objects (shoes, here)
Put them in the park for kids to play with

About 10 full chess sets made of plaster, unpainted
Finish and make boards, and put them in the parks for people to pay

About 2 dozen miniature penguins
Make about 100, dress them up as soldier, leave as instillation
About 2 dozen plaster rubber duckies, various colors.
Make about 100, place in the bottom of a pool or fountain

So, there you have it. My work is out of the bag.
I don't know what I'm going to do with any of it. I'll be honest: It's frustrating. I had ideas when I started, I think. Not really. I just thought "how cool would it be to see like 100 mini penguins lined up, all like little soldiers?"
I feel stuck now, because I have nothing. No, I have a LOT of nothings.
Maybe I'm just working on too much at once? I kind of miss the days when things just happened. When I didn't wait till I was finished, when I didn't even wait for the weather to warm up or the paint to dry. Or even the time I just went to walmart and bought a bag of mirror squares and glue.
Maybe I'm scared of getting caught here. It's such a small town. So... undistributed. Maybe I'm getting used to it. Maybe I've got to thinking I like it untouched, even by me.

But my mind goes there, you know? My mind eye sees that sign post painted hot pink. And it sees that bench turned into something with hands and eyes and mouth. And I want to see stuff. But... I don't know if I feel much like doing stuff. Is it reputation? Is it the 4th wall? Is it having to start over?

How about this. I need to just go and do it. How about every day for a week, I'll do something and record it. Starting Thursday. to Thursday.

Things that take time

Bonsai takes time. Lots of time, spaced out.
Wine making takes a lot of time.
And growing stuff takes a long time.
So does losing weight.
And uploading photos to the blogspot.

Friday

I found this new adhesive that I'm trying out, I think I like it. It comes in a squeezey tube, so it's less conspicuous than the caulking gun I was using.
Then I found these square mirrors, and just the place for them, where there's a corner, and some seating. That's what I did today. I figure I owe you guys a lot since I've been so busy.
Anyhow, hindsight says I go and add about 3 times as many of these square mirrors. But seeing it was my first interaction at Clark, I had to test the waters.

I present: My First Clark College Piece

(those are little mirrors, btw)

While in Tacoma

I tried three new things: Store bought real stencils, Stencil adhesive, and textured spray paint. Sad to say, this is the only picture. It was night my the time I tried anything, and I didn't want to use much flash.
I'll try it again later.

New Digs

I've found new canvas. It's called Clark College. It has a little of everything, mostly a college, kinda smaller, and very very fresh.

New Project

A great idea landed in my lap the other day.
A few months ago, I had my first nosebleed, and captured it and memorialized it.
Well, the other day, I got my first stitches. And I have a lot of memoribilia, so I'm going to compile it and put it all up here within the week.
Have to wait for the stitches to come out. ( : Think the doc will let me keep them?

oh yes

OCD- I've lost count

I still love doing these, but I realize I'm a million days behind. I need to stick to doing at least one a day, otherwise I run out of ideas.
